In December 2006 IA build a trend map of 200 most successful websites on the web, ordered by category, proximity, success, popularity and perspective. You can buy the map as a A2 poster for $25. Another version of the trend map is available as a clickable map which can be used as a start page in your browser.

Web Trend Map 2007

A new version of the Web Trend Map 2007 was also released in June this year. This version is also available as a poster for $25. You can download a PDF to print and is available as an image and a clickable image. I would recommend using the 1600 x 1024 version as you can clearly see the popular websites.

Also on the website are the Internet 2007 Predictions which makes an interesting reading. Another map that is available on the website for The 50 loudest websites in 2006 and what made them successful.

It is heartening to know that there are developers who would do a research like this one and share it with people as well. I’m sure a lot of people would benefit from this.
