Pixpo - Video sharing on Web 2.0

Posted in web 2.0 by Pali
PiXPO makes it easy to get all your videos online. There are a lot of services Pixpo - broadcast your own channelthat allow you to share videos online the popular ones being Google video and YouTube. How Pixpo is different is that it allows you to upload the videos and create a channel for viewers where they can access all the videos.

You can organize and share videos from you hard drive with the world. If you have about 100 photos which you just took you can create a channel within 3 minutes which can be broadcast over the Internet. Pixpo has music and photo capability, you can broadcast all your media.

Though the idea behind the software is a good one there are downsides to it Broadcasting videos online on web 2.0as well. The first one is that you need to download the software on to your PC. Since your PC controls you content, once your PC is offline your broadcast stops meaning that people cannot view it which is bad. Another downside can be that in the long run if your channel is good and has a lot of visitors the user experience would depend upon the bandwidth you have since everyone who wants to view the channel would be connecting to your PC. It does seem that the service or the software is targeting businesses and not individuals and though easy to setup, it might turn out to be expensive in the long run as one would have to invest in bandwidth.

The developers promise a lot of upgrades and I must say they have had some success. They recently launched a new web site at http://www.FLiXPO.com which has some popular videos which have been created using Pixpo but then there are already some great ones. However, it is a great tool for people wanting to experiment with video broadcasting as a profession.
