Moveover Slideshare and Zoho Show

Posted in browsing, freeware, presentation, web 2.0 by Pali
I came across and interesting application called Thumbstacks. Thumbstacks allows user to create presentations, very similar to what you would do when you create a presentation on MS Powerpoint. Quote from the web site of Thumbstacks: -

With Thumbstacks.com, you can make presentations - like slideshows, or outlines - right in your web browser. When you’re done, you can share your presentations with anyone, anywhere, just by sending them a link. Want to see an example? Here’s a presentation about us. It all runs right here, in your web browser. You can create your presentation, save it, modify it, update it, whatever - then click “publish” and you’ll get a link you can use to share it with everyone. The best way to understand is to try it out!

ThumbstacksLook under the basic interface and deceptively bland logo and you will notice that Thumstacks in a pretty interesting applications. Create and edit slides online with Word-like rich-text editing controls and with images and drawings from anywhere on the web. Launch and view your presentation right from the Thumbstacks site and edit it from any ‘net-connected computer. Thumbstacks is still in alpha so expect a bit of wonkiness; free to sign up. So the real question becomes: does it make sense to have your slideshow on the web? Personally, I don’t think mainstream users are the slightest bit interested in the Web 2.0 office suite just yet. Having said that it is an useful tool for companies who are marketing their tools online or making web presentations and it is a good start and gives us a glimpse of things to come.
