Capazoo - A web 2.0 initiative that has not made it yet

Sometimes we start believing that all web 2.0 applications that have been released till date are a hit. That is not the case people make lots of mistakes but you hope they learn from their mistakes.

Once such example is Capazoo. Capazoo is a new social network based Social networking portalwebsite that has been launched recently. The main problem is that it has been designed with heavy use of flash which is a big no no these days specially for web 2.0 web sites. There is some Ajax which has been used which I must say makes it a bit more interesting. Capazoo also misses some of the features which are a must for all social network websites. Customization is very limited as no where can a person upload more pictures and there is also no provision for adding html code!

On the good side I must say that Capazoo offers some customization: choose an avtar, custom wallpaper, a color palette and create a speech bubble that carries a personalized message. You can also add friends, leave comments and create a list of interests. You can earn “Zoops” when you invite new people to the service - Zoops are a custom currency that you’ll eventually be able to trade in for “cool stuff”, or so they say. The most complete feature is the email solution which is based on Zimbra. The website does also mention that they are coming up with new features which would include blogs, news, broadcasting and podcasting. Right now the website does not offer something new.
